Three sets of chronologically colour-coded bookmarks produced for the browsable exhibition Photo book! Photo-book! Photobook! Kyotographie. Held in Kyoto at Hachiku-an (Former Kawasaki Residence), April 17–May 17, 2026, this is an abridged and updated iteration of the exhibition curated by Sean O’Toole, first held at A4 Arts Foundation in 2021. Staging the exhibition in Japan necessitated texts in Japanese for the local audience. The bookmarks were created for this purpose: slipped into a selection of featured books to offer bilingual summaries (with the English text translated into Japanese by A4 team member Taiyo Shimokawa) and corresponding publication details. An accompanying QR code links to each book’s dedicated page on A4’s website. Green bookmarks correspond with the time period c.1945–c.1975; orange with c.1976–c.1999; and pink with c.2000–2025, matching similarly coloured zabuton cushions to illustrate the timeline.
