“I became interested in those slippages that occur when things that are produced to be scientific and objective and are meant to be read as such, lose those qualities. It can happen because of time when a claim to evidentiary value or truthfulness diminishes. As a result, we treat certain images and objects with more suspicion as we are more aware of how they were constructed. I am drawn to the queerness of these encounters: when images that were not intended to be enjoyed as erotic are read as such. These images are coded with the libidinal desires of a particular time, functioning as covert agents of queer representation.”
