"The Market Photo was there to help black photographers do work, to get paid for the work they were doing. There was resistance to what I was doing, because the Workshop is known for journalistic, documentary photography. I studied with Zanele Muholi, Ingrid Masondo, Raymond Mokoena, Cariña Booyens, Oupa Nkosi, and Buyaphi Mdledle…in fact, most of the people I studied with went on to do great things."
