"I am continuing with my Sharpeville project, which is shaped by stories I have inherited from my family. My aunt lost her legs in the events of 1960. She wasn’t at the protest, but hanging washing in her garden. Everyone has stories about it, about that day. My parents tell us our histories, like that of Sharpeville. These histories change depending on the teller, the tellings shift. I want to recall what happened to us, to my family. So it is always good to hear from the people who have witnessed these life-changing stories."
