"In answer to the question, ‘What is a photobook?’ – a photobook has a narrative and clear author’s voice, whether emanating from found material or originating from a practitioner through a lens. It has a rhythm found in its sequencing. You are trying to create an object that has its own sentience. This is also beyond your control, and perhaps your intentions aren’t what the book ends up articulating. There are times when one can see a premeditated idea imposing itself at the cost of the book."
